BOONE, Iowa—The good news about the extremely mild weather this fall and during the first few days of winter is the condition of the city’s snow removal budget. A year ago, Boone City Administrator Luke Nelson noted that the city had gone through a good portion of the budget as well as supplies of salt and sand. Things have been quite a bit better this December. Public Works has actually been out three or four times to spread sand and salt at intersections because of slippery conditions.
