Council Decides Stop Sign Unnecessary

Posted on 20 December 2011 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Since the traffic control system at South Story Street and Park Avenue has malfunctioned, public works has left a 4-way stop sign in the intersection, even though the signals are all flashing red.  City Council Member Gary Nystrom brought the matter up during Monday’s Council meeting.  The Council decided that because of the traffic, it would be better to remove the 4-way stop sign and just go with the flashing red lights.  Parks and Public Works Director John Rouse says his department is still waiting for a newly constructed controller to install at the intersection.
