Frosty Roads Responsible for Multiple Accidents

Posted on 19 December 2011 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Like many parts of the state, weather conditions this morning made the commute a trying affair.  Boone County Emergency Management Coordinator Dave Morlan says roads built up a frost cover as temperatures dropped.  Then traffic compacted the frost, creating a glazing condition.  At least four accidents were reported when vehicles left the road, hit the soft shoulder and ditch and then rolled.  A number of people were taken to the Boone County Hospital for treatment of injuries.  Conditions improved as throughout the morning.
