Trail Users Affecting Residents Near Madrid

Posted on 12 October 2011 by KWBG

MADRID, Iowa—Residents along QF Lane, west of Madrid, near the High Trestle Trail Bridge have enjoyed the use of the recreational trail but have been having some problems because of the trails location. During construction, it was suggested that a small, gravel parking lot be constructed there to allow handicap accessibility to the bridge. It turns out that quite a few people like parking there and the vehicles have ended up on QF Lane, making the road impassable. Residents have asked the Boone County Supervisors to make some changes to help, including setting speed limits. Recently, vehicles parked on the road blocked a combine from getting to a field for harvest.
