BOONE, Iowa—Boone School Superintendent Brad Manard says the District has made some very good strides in their effort to contain the Special Education Deficit. A couple of years ago, the difference was about $900,000. Last year the deficit was $604,000 and this year, it dropped to about $317,000. Manard says he would like to bring the difference down even more, but it’s very difficult to anticipate Special Education needs. The School Board did authorize seeking allowable growth and supplemental aid to offset the deficit.
