BOONE, Iowa—Heat took a toll on RAGBRAI riders coming into Boone Tuesday. Traffic at the Boone County Hospital Emergency Room was quite high during the afternoon and early evening. Of course there were the usual crashes with riders suffering road rash and other scrapes. The most severe appeared to occur shortly before noon just a couple of miles north of Boone on Nature Road. A rider passed out and crashed. Sheriff Ron Fehr reported that the rider sustained head and leg injuries was take to Boone County Hospital, then flown to a Hospital in Des Moines.
