School Building Demolition

Posted on 10 May 2011 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—It’s taken a little longer than expected, but the Boone School Board will approve bids for building demolition, asbestos control and soil testing Tuesday. The Board had hoped a useful purpose could be found for the vacated Lowell and Bryant Elementary buildings. Since the decision to vacate the buildings, the School Board has consistently said the buildings could be sold, but the buyer would need to demonstrate a beneficial use for the neighborhood and community. Since no one purchased the buildings, the Board opted for demolition because of the ongoing costs to maintain the structures.
