Posted on 16 March 2011 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—St. Patrick’s Day has become a popular night to celebrate Irish Heritage, even for those that aren’t Irish. Boone Police Department Commander Chuck Pepples says the department is urging the public to keep the streets safe this year. Pepples says drink responsible and have a designated sober driver before heading to the parades or the pub. During the same time, other agencies are taking part in a sTEP or special Traffic Enforcement Program, focusing on seat belt usage, speeding and driving sober.
