City Agrees to Animal Control Fees

Posted on 18 January 2011 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Council has approved a 4-percent increase in the amount paid to the Boone Area Humane Society for animal control with in Boone. Heidi Drees-White presented the Council’s Policy, Administration, and Employee Relations Committee with the figures for the past year. A couple of years ago, the Council switched from a base contract with charges for services to a flat fee. Boone Mayor John Slight says the flat fee makes it easier to budget, but it does make the Humane Society guess about the number of calls. The new contract still needs to be considered by the Council, but the cost will be just over $70,000.
