Deputies Want to Drop Union

Posted on 12 January 2011 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Deputy Sheriff Brian Pontius and Dispatcher Rhonda Crim met with Boone County Supervisors this week to inform the Board that their bargaining unit has begun the process of dropping their affiliation with AFSCME. Pontius told the Board that the group does not intend to join another union. He told the Supervisors the group has been dissatisfied by their representation and felt they could do a better job dealing directly with the county. Boone County has had three bargaining units, Deputies and Dispatchers, Secondary Roads and Landfill Employees and finally the Jailers.
