Gun Permits

Posted on 06 January 2011 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Like many other parts of the state there’s been an increase in Boone County residents seeking gun permits. The new state law took affect January 1st, but Monday was the first day that people could apply for permits under the new rules. Boone County Sheriff Ron Fehr says about 50-applied Monday and about 20 on Tuesday. He says the numbers were up, but not as high as he thought they might be. Previously a Sheriff had discretion and could deny a permit. With the new law, only a limited number of things could lead to a permit being denied.
