Building Demolition stirs Revitalization

OGDEN, Iowa—Last week, the Ogden City Council approved a contract with Brink Construction of Ogden to demolish three downtown properties. The low bid from Brink was $90,000. The properties included the former Johnson and Sons location, the Rattray Building and the former Ahrens Service Station at 1st and Walnut. The City has worked with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the EPA and also Keep Iowa Beautiful to obtain funds for the work. Also, community leaders kicked off rejuvenation efforts for the Ogden Community Development Company.
