ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP) – The Iowa Cubs have tied a season high
with 19 hits in their 14-2 win at Round Rock. Micah Hoffpauir
homered for Iowa yesterday, and Casey Coleman got the win. The Cubs
have won six of seven and are 12 games over .500.

CHICAGO (AP) – Cubs manager Lou Piniella says Carlos Zambrano
will probably return during Chicago’s series at Colorado next
weekend. Zambrano threw two scoreless innings for Triple-A Iowa on
Saturday and will likely make one more appearance for Iowa before
rejoining Chicago.

CHICAGO (AP) – The St. Louis Cardinals have avoided a weekend
sweep with a 4-3 road victory in 11 innings against the Chicago
Cubs. Felipe Lopez hit a tie-breaking solo homer in the 11th inning
to put the Cardinals back in the NL Central lead. They’re a
half-game ahead of Cincinnati.

IRVING, Texas (AP) – Commissioner Dan Beebe worked hard to keep
the Big 12 from crumbling when Colorado and Nebraska decided to
leave. He’s proud of how things played out. He’ll be back in the
spotlight this week with Big 12 media days starting today.
