UNDATED (AP) – In minor league baseball last night, the Iowa
Cubs defeated New Orleans 9-2. It was Iowa’s second straight win of
the four-game series. The Cubs play again tonight at Zephyrs Field.

CHICAGO (AP) – The Chicago Cubs beat the White Sox 8-6, ending
the team’s winning streak at 11 games. The White Sox scored three
times in the bottom of the ninth. But Armando Rios struck out
swinging against Carlos Marmol with runners at first and second to
finish it.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – Miami junior Ti’erra Brown has become
the first Hurricane in program history to win a national title.
Brown won the 400-meter hurdles final yesterday afternoon at the
USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She won in 54.84
seconds, the second-best time of her career.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – Wallace Spearmon and Consuella Moore
took national titles in the 200 meters at the USA Outdoor Track and
Field Championships in Des Moines. Spearmon finished in a
wind-aided 19.77 seconds yesterday to edge Walter Dix, who took
second in 20.14. Moore, who recently returned to the track after an
extended absence, won in 22.40, edging out Shalonda Solomon.
