BOONE, Iowa—The three candidates that expressed and interest in being appointed to fill and unexpired term on the Boone City Council, have submitted petitions and will be on the ballot for a special election in July. Kevin Hicks, Travis Stevenson and Steve McCoy were seeking appointment to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Glen Thompson in early March. Due to a variety of reasons, including an illegal secret vote by the Council, a special election is required. The election is only for the residents in the city’s 4th Ward, or northwest part of the city.
