BOONE, Iowa—A very popular city subsidized program, called the Personal Property Protection Program will continue next fiscal year, but will offer smaller grants to residents who make efforts to protect their basements from sewer backups. Initially grants of up to $5,000 were made available to residents cover the cost of disconnecting perimeter drain tile. That amount continues to be reduced and will be at $2,000 in the next fiscal year. The grant is expected to still cover a substantial portion of the costs.
