BOONE, Iowa—Boone County voters will be asked to consider an increase to the county wide surcharge of land line telephones. The question will appear on the November general election ballot. Currently, the surcharge is $.85 per line per month. The request seeks a $.15 increase to $1.00. The Boone County E911 Service Board voted to ask for the increase this week. Over the last 5-years, the revenue from the surcharge has declined by $30,000. Proceeds are used to fund the purchase of new equipment for all emergency responders in the county.
