BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Board of Supervisors will be spending time reviewing getting updated on what’s called a Conservation District Overlay. The concept is being used for the first time on a rezoning request on property in the Des Moines River Valley, near the Ledges State Park. The property is actually being rezoned to handle a minor subdivision, but because of the location, the County Zoning Commission has recommended using the Conservation District Overlay. The overlay is expected to help preserve environmentally fragile land.
